Translate the Labels. Keep the Spreadsheet Working.

Translate the text inside an Excel workbook without sending formulas, the references inside them, or numbers for translation. Download an XLSX file that still calculates when you open it.

What Stays Intact

  • Formulas and the cell references inside them
  • Numbers, currencies, and product codes
  • Worksheets and workbook structure
  • Merged cells
  • The original XLSX output format

What Survives When You Translate Excel (.xlsx)

  • Formulas never reach the model and are never rewritten: =SUM(B2:B40) comes back byte for byte, still calculating against the same cells.
  • Numbers, currency codes and cell number formats are copied through verbatim, and a verify stage rejects a translated segment whose digits do not match the source. Dates keep their digits; month names are translated.
  • Sheet names, merged ranges, column widths, conditional formatting and defined names are untouched. Only text nodes are replaced.
  • A cell holding two languages can be handled three ways: replace everything, replace one language, or append the translation beneath the original.

How It Works

  1. 1.

    Upload Your XLSX File

Lingivio identifies the workbook, detects its source language, and calculates the credit cost from its translatable worksheet content.

  2. 2.

    Choose the Target Language

Select the language you need and review the exact cost before translation begins.

  3. 3.

    Download the Translated Workbook

Open the translated XLSX file in Excel and confirm that the formulas still calculate.

Plans and Credit Cost

Excel translation is included with Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans. Each worksheet uses 1 credit for every 3000 translatable characters, with a minimum charge of 1 credit per worksheet.

See It on a Real Document

The before and after below is a real Excel (.xlsx) file this engine translated (Spanish to English). The examples page has the files themselves.

What This Does Not Do

  • Text baked into a chart image or a picture pasted onto a sheet is a picture, not a cell, and is left as it is.
  • Anything the verify stage cannot confirm falls back to the source text, visible and untranslated. A file that looks finished but is not is the one outcome we will not ship.

Questions

Are Excel formulas translated?
No. Formulas are extracted before translation and restored unchanged.
Will my numbers or cell references change?
No. Numbers, currency and percent markers, product codes, URLs, and email addresses are checked before the workbook is completed, and formulas, with the cell references inside them, are never touched. Digits inside dates are protected; month names are translated.
Which languages are available for Excel?
Excel output currently supports all 25 target languages offered by Lingivio.
Does Lingivio translate every cell?
Lingivio translates supported text content. Formulas and protected values are kept out of the translation step. Sheet-tab names and cell comments are left in the source language.
What happens to my file afterwards?
Uploaded and generated files are automatically deleted within 24 hours, and are never used to train a model.
